I owe who I am today to many Native people, I think that's what inspired me to serve in the military. It gave a sense of appreciation and respect for who I am as a Native myself.

I met a few other Native soldiers and I've always considered their ideas on why joined. Not that I don't respect anyone elses ideas on why they've enlisted. I mainly like to hear Native ideas because we're  the last of the last. Natives have always been warriors and we should be first to help this land.

This Memorial Day I thank all the enlisted people and there families for helping support this country. And to all the Native soldiers that came before me and will come after me, I appreciate the codes, and honor system you live by.
